When Wii Fit was launched I planned on buying it but decided to wait since I was still pregnant. Then when I got around to buying it it was sold out everywhere! Not only that but some places had even jacked the prices up! I was SO happy to see that GameStop was not only selling them at the correct price (even if it was a bundle), but they were doing a pre-order for it! Of course, I ordered it right away! According to the website the Wii Fits were set to ship 1/21/2009. So imagine my surprise when it arrived today! Due to the importance of the day (and we were about to take Aiden to his 4 month physical) I was not able to try it out until much later. It was probably a good thing too! My Wii Fit Age is HORRIBLE! I can still blame it on have an emergency c-section, right? (I did try it again and my Wii Fit Age was much better!)
Although Mario Kart and Wii Fit are the two games that I was most interested in from the start I am surprised at my level of interest in other Wii games. For instance, I am amazingly addicted to Animal Crossing: City Folk! I bought it because I thought it was interesting that the game was in real time. I also read that it is one of those games that you will only want to play for an hour a day. Hmmm...it is more like 5 for me! I thought that this would be a good game to play when I was too distracted to play Guild Wars. Although the game is incredibly simple and repeatative (I mean how many times can you catch a Sea Bass in one day?) I honestly really enjoy it.
The other thing that I think is really great about the Wii is the WiiWare and Virtual Console. Not only do you get to download games that you can only get online, but you can also get old school Nintendo and Sega games! I mean seriously, did you ever think you could play Excitebike again without an emulator? Ok, I don't have Excitebike yet but it is one that I will get down the road. (By the way? Why don't they have Spy Hunter yet?!) I love playing Super Mario World again. I even remember a lot of the secrets! I also have Dr. Mario. I am not as good as I used to be, but I will get there! I have also enjoyed the Brain Challange game. It is a WiiWare that is similar to Big Brain Academy only it is a download and cheaper. I have not play BBA, but I have to assume that they are pretty much the same.
In the future I hope to get My Fitness Coach to supplement Wii Fit. I am not sure what is coming out for the Wii in the near future, but I do hope that Nintendo considers making some of the Nintendo DS games for the Wii. I really like the idea of the games that help improve your body and mind. These games include:
Personal Trainer: Cooking
Flash Focus
My Fun Facts Coach
My (enter a language here) Coach
Crosswords (any of them)
My Word Coach
Ok. So I know that is a long enough list that it could be worth it just get a DS, but to be honest...how many gaming systems do you think I need, Nintendo?! Would it not just be SO much easier to put these on the Nintendo Shopping Channel?
PS. Do you have any of the same games? Wanna trade friend codes?
